BE FEMINIST

Port Forum, Barcelona, Spain. May, 2017

EVERYBODY SHOULD BE FEMINIST

Hi girls,
today I decided to dedicate this post to you!!! As you can imagine from the title I want to talk about a very interesting, as well as complex, topic. Why right now and not on 8 March? Simple, 'cause every day we should be more feminist, not only for an occasion/event/celebration.
I'd rather not talk about the past and historical reasons, I just want to focus on the present, having regard to my personal experience and my perspective. Sadly I've to say that in my daily life I don't see a lot of sisterhood, in many cases I noticed a lot of competition and rivalry between women, most of the time caused by envy and insecurity. It's a shame 'cause we should support each other, not fight or use subterfuge. During the Women's week I took part in many events here in Barcelona and we argued about the role of woman in this society, with particular regard to her position in the area of employment. We're still disadvantaged (in many cases the salary is lower than that of a man, the same for the role: usually it's easier that a man could hold a dominant position in a company), but it's also our responsibility trying to change this situation. According to the statistics women are used to settle for what they have, even if is not satisfactory; they're afraid to ask for something better, even if they deserve better and they're more passive than active, I mean that prefer to accept than fight. I'm speaking in general and I perfectly know every country and culture has its own reasons...I've just wanted to share my point of view and I'd like to know what's yours in this respect.

Ciao ragazze,
